Heroes of Might and Magic III – a top game

Being well-known after the RPG Might and Magic series, New World Computing has hit the turn based game series Heroes of Might and Magic, which eclipsed the RPG games of the producers. Heroes uses an innovative formula that combines micro and macro management in a fantasy world.

Already in the third part, it was a question mark from producers if it will catch the public, if it will be successful, because in terms of gameplay the game is just like the first two, differing only in terms of graphics, where it is obvious that exceeds its predecessors. But as soon as the game starts, you will realize that you will have to deal with a great title, a first class continuation, which contributes greatly the graphics - have top fun.

The first two games were great especially because the colorful magazines graphics, that has brought the comic phases despite the epic subject that we are witnessing.  You are witnessing how hundreds of peasants are being slaughtered by some minotaurs, but as peasants and minotaurs look silly, and because of their huge number represents one unit on the map, it becomes hard to take the battle seriously.

Although Heroes III can be played in the same way, you will notice that the game distances itself from the origins, but this is only due to the graphic. The game tries to look more seriously. Many units look more dangerous than the first part, and at first glance they even manage.

Even though not all new monsters look good, in big lines the graphics is beautiful, especially for a genre that does not give importance to graphics, because it focuses more on the gameplay. Heroes of Might and Magic III sounds more impressive than it looks, with interesting themes well chosen for each castle.

The turn based gameplay consists in recruiting mercenary heroes who you will guide on the map to conquer resources, treasures, magic artifacts, mysterious areas and fight enemies. With gained resources you develop your cities so they produce units to become stronger. Meanwhile heroes  gain game experience, skills and spells and you can put them at the head of the largest army in order to defeat the enemy.

The game does not hurt the formula that came with the original, but it is an improvement and can easily be called the best one. Heroes II combines several very pleasant elements that make the game to be fun and satisfying.
